Design Concept:

Inspired by the Year of the Monkey and the greatest of all monkeys, the Monkey King Sun Wukong, the glass artwork depicted here portrays a legendary hero. “Journey to the West,” one of the most widely celebrated works in Chinese literature, follows Sun's story across thousands of miles. As a sort of demi-god, he could transform himself into any of 72 manifestations with just a pinch of fur. In this piece, he sits atop a bunch of bananas, his one-to-one proportions representing his ability to obtain whatever he desires. Staying true to the story, LIULI’s Chinese glass art sculpts a monkey king who is as strong as he is witty, clever, and mischievous, representing a strength and intelligence to which anyone can aspire.

作品的靈感來自於所有猴子中最偉大的猴子--猴王 "孫悟空"--這個玻璃藝術品描繪了一個來自傳奇的英雄。作為中國文學中最廣為流傳的作品之一，《西遊記》講述了這位英雄跨越千里的故事。孫悟空是一種 "半神"，只需捏一下皮毛就能變成72種表現形式中的任何一種。在這裡，他坐在一串香蕉上面，一對一的比例代表他有能力獲得他所選擇的任何東西。為了忠實於故事，琉璃藝術雕刻了一個強壯的猴王，他機智、聰明、調皮。它代表了每個人都可以嚮往的力量和智慧。
