Design Concept: The orchid is revered as the "gentleman of flowers"—a symbol of nobility, elegance, and moral integrity. Often referenced by Confucius, the orchid represents a harmonious and virtuous society, free of conflict and full of grace. In this crystal sculpture, raised petals evoke the very first signs of spring’s arrival, carried on a fragrant breeze and accompanied by the promise of renewal. The design unites flower and leaf into a seamless circular form, a technically demanding process that achieves a sense of natural fluidity and unity. Crafted in two parts and fired at different temperatures, the base—smooth and refined—echoes the structure of a living stalk, while the blossom above shimmers with vivid powdered crystal glass. This contrast between form and texture imbues the sculpture with both abstract elegance and lifelike presence. Through masterful craftsmanship and poetic vision, the orchid comes alive in this work of art, dancing in the spirit of spring. As a symbol, it celebrates awakening, refinement, and the enduring beauty of virtue. A Chinese LIULI Flower collection is a poetic reflection of Loretta H. Yang’s inner world, where each bloom represents a moment in her life and spiritual journey. Using the delicate and demanding pâte-de-verre technique, she crafts large-scale glass flowers that blur the line between reality and imagination—expressing vulnerability, compassion, and strength through a fragile medium. The flowers are formed in multiple parts and joined through complex firing methods, ensuring seamless beauty from every angle. Rich in layered colors inspired by ink landscapes, each piece captures the rhythm and soul of nature. Rooted in Eastern philosophy and organic design, the collection is not just an homage to botanical form but a profound meditation on life, emotion, and the eternal. |
