The Yushan Juniper is the first and boldest of the highly limited 2013 series “Believe and You shall See.”  In honor of LIULI art studio’s roots in Taiwan, craftsmen poured their sincerity into four focal points in this series.  Together, they combine several innovative techniques rarely seen in crystal glass-making, including:  Fine color-placement, twice-firing, and the joining of separately sculpted pieces.  Still, these technicalities only serve to complement the works’ spirit.  Standing sentry in the remote alpines of Taiwan is this Juniper, the remarkable resilience of which is defined by its harsh environment.  LIULI studio artists go beyond to incorporate the painstakingly sculpted butterfly orchid, resulting in a drastic contrast between frail beauty and relentless determination.  The Yushan Juniper suggests the notion that, sometimes beauty is shaped from our hardships.  A transparent and vertical LIULI background conveys a silent message, transporting one from a limited to a limitless space. The juniper and butterfly orchid's existences in capricious climates reveals carefree life philosophy.
