Design Concept: The feathers of the kingfisher have layering patterns and a symphony of lights; the royal blue patterns on its back are very eye catching hence its nickname “Flying jewel”. While the colors of the kingfisher are beautiful, they also pose a great difficulty to its making. It took three sculptural versions, almost thirty kiln test-firings and an arduous color experimentation process before the LIULIGONGFANG artisans were satisfied with their colorfully layered bird. The body of the kingfisher uses the color placement technique, putting an emphasis on the accuracy and the vibrancy of the colors. |
