Design Concept:

This is the exclusive design for Purlieu in the Year of the Horse.

Out of their passion for wine, men become increasingly interested in the process and the art of winemaking. Wine that has been stored in oak barrels carry richer and finer taste. As a result, natural oak barrels have also become an irreplaceable symbol of fine wine. The design of Concept extended from the leaves and fruits of the oak tree. Oak tree leaves extend with amiability and passion, much like the sunshine of California’s Napa Valley, cascading acorns grow in favorable and fertile conditions are a blessing’s grateful gift. The overall presentation of the piece fully utilizes the translucent qualities of the material liuli and incorporates its different levels of sculptural presentation. Through different gradation of lighting changes, a single color highlights the piece’s texture on different levels. This piece showcase different levels of sculptural presentation. From concise and compact to plain and simple, the perfect harmony of these polarities emphasizes the focal point of this piece.
